After years of gathering input on their 10-Year Strategic Plan through multiple engagement activities, the City of Launceston leveraged the Konveio platform to centralize feedback, validate assumptions, and simplify the review process. This approach ensured the plan was up-to-date, reflected community input, and ready for Council endorsement.
As Launceston approached the culmination of its strategic planning process, the team faced a familiar challenge: How to validate and refine a broad, multi-topic draft plan using feedback from an equally broad audience, including community members, internal staff, stakeholders, and industry partners. Previous data collection efforts had taken place over years and needed to be tested in the current context. Traditional engagement methods weren’t equipped to gather nuanced, section-specific feedback.
Launceston turned to Konveio to host the draft Strategic Plan and invite targeted feedback. Using the platform, stakeholders could easily navigate the lengthy document and comment throughout or specifically on sections relevant to them. This was especially beneficial given the diverse scope of the plan. Users could zero in on topics of personal or professional interest and offer detailed feedback, even providing proofreading feedback for clarity and terminology.
The Strategic Plan was launched simultaneously with Launceston’s Annual Plan, enabling participants to understand and comment on short-term and long-term initiatives side-by-side, streamlining engagement and aligning planning documents in the public’s eye.
The City used Konveio to share documents and engagement opportunities. With Konveio’s linkable URLs, staff could direct social media users straight to specific content. Their Facebook page, which is followed by tens of thousands, created a simple, one-click path to the hosted document, generating measurable traffic to the draft.
“When people comment on Konveio, they’ve already read the content, so the feedback is smarter and more relevant. It’s our go-to tool when we already have a draft and want to hear what people really think.”
